Arthroscopy (also called arthroscopic or keyhole surgery) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and mostly a treatment of damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through 1 cm small incisions.
The procedure mostly takes less than 1 hour and patients only need to stay for a night at hospital. If it is performed for an examination, patients can use their joints as soon as the procedure is over.
