Knee Replacement

Total Knee Replacement operation is suitable for patients with severe knee arthrosis (gonarthrosis) who cannot walk or maintain their daily activities due to pain and joint malalignment. Damaged joint surfaces (cartilages) are changed with artificial joint surfaces. A replaced knee can last as long as 20 years or even more.

If the pain of the patient is intolerable and joint malalignment of the knee  prevents the patient to do his/her daily activities like walking, sitting, standing and ect., and all of the other treatment options are tried and non of them helps the patient to have a normal daily routine, knee replacement operation should be performed.

The operation takes about 60-90 minutes. Most of the patients can bear weight in hours after the operation. Mean hospital stay is about 3 days.

I prefer worldly well known implant brands in knee replacement surgery. I believe this helps to avoid many possible complications that can occur due to implant quality. Suture brand is another important issue. I pay attention using the best quality and worldly well known brands in sutures.

Patients start early physiotherapy after the operation. After their control in post operative 20th day, patients are free to return to their daily routines.
